I currently work for Crocs as the color and print designer for the women's line of shoes. Personally, my design aesthetic is clean and bold but I love a large variety of design. This blog is to showcase my personal work as it comes along and highlight work that I enjoy.Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.comBlogger24125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-33298994319233432432013-11-03T09:31:00.000-08:002013-11-03T09:31:04.977-08:00J.Crew: I.Love.YouWhile we are in the midst of fall, I thought it might be fun to show something that was on <a href="http://www.jcrew.com/index.jsp" target="_blank">J.Crew's website</a> last year. I know I am a little late to the game, but since they are a company known for their forward colors and just cute fashion items in general, I thought it was really cool that they highlighted their interview with their colorist when they introduced their jackets for the FH12 season. It is obviously no longer on the site, but when I saw it I just had to take snapshots to preserve it forever. <br />
<br />
Below is the interview as well as pictures of their beautifully colored jackets from 2012.<br />

To serve up some inspiration and to get away from the office, our team at work went to the Air Force Academy Chapel! I have lived in Colorado for most of my life and I can't believe I had never been here.<br />
<br />
Designed by SOM of Chicago and built in the 60's, the chapel was very forward for its time and not accepted by the public at first. It is open to all religions and has Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, and Buddhist chapels. What the chapel is really known for is the Protestant worship space pictured below but the other chapels are quite beautiful as well. It is interesting because the size of each chapel is relative to the percentage of people in each religion/denomination enrolled in the military. Here are a few snapshots I took in an attempt to capture the beauty of the stained glass and spires.<br />

What I find really exciting is that artists and architects have also embraced color. Now artists are not just creating a colorful painting or a stained glass window, they are engulfing people in color. Some artists like James Turrell have been doing projects like these for years. As a personal fan of all things color (it is my m.o. after all :), the impact that this has is very exciting! Here are a few examples of works that have helped bring color back to light (pun intended.)<br />

Pantone is known internationally as one of the fashion world's leading authorities on color standardization. It is how we, at work, communicate with developers and manufacturers to get just the right hue we are looking for on our footwear. In our office we have several pantone books with thousands of colors and each one has an associated number to it. Our manufacturers in China have the exact same books and when we reference a number they look it up in their book so they know what to match and voila! color magic. :) <br />
<br />
Every year, based on their own color trend research they introduce a new color of the year and my boss and I just get giddy when it is announced because we are color dorks. Here are their colors of the year for the past 6 years: <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21055" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="136" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgjjxxeX26O5i1fiB6w1m8Aw5a9lzm3wdpQVVZvcHeeYlXSyueOhkhpat_qIyUf0x39Lbtl1SfhO2K-Su8cdL3EudmKkCIsRoXi9BYvQOLDzWBibPwYdpOuDOREknW1EWB5AvuLjMkGbk/s640/Screen+shot+2013-07-21+at+12.36.32+PM.png" width="640" /></a></td></tr>

</tbody></table>
It is cool to look back on some of these colors because you realize that they really have been popular over the past few years. I am thinking the 2014 color of the year will either be a blue or purple but I really hope it is something similar to this color below. Some call it cobalt, Yves Klein Blue, sapphire, while others call it abyss blue, or cerulean (that's what we call it crocs :) but however you slice it is just plain beautiful!<br />

Last week a coworker showed me what they have recently unveiled and it is awesome! They have beat us to the punch and have introduced a sneaker with an engineered knit upper. The colorways are really fun and include a multi-colored men's version which reads like a topographic map. You can pre-order them now for the grand price of $160 a pop. That is a lot of moolah, but I am sure they will be a fast success Here are some images of what they have to offer, but I recommend going to their <a href="http://www.nike.com/fall13/#/us/en_us/flyknit" target="_blank">site</a> because they have presented a really cool way to look at the product.<br />

It is a 5k reminiscent of the Indian holiday, Holi, with bright powder being thrown all sorts of which-ways. Each km in the race has a designated color that you are doused with. At the end of the race, there is a stage blasting music where a countdown is led every five minutes for people to throw powder in the air. Needless to say, it was a field day for an Instagram and color queen!<br />

As you can see below, application of color changes from spring to fall, with fall product traditionally being more conservative, but there is always room to make a statement!<br />

<br />
So I started working at Crocs in June of 2010, and I was able to see my first print designs in Crocs stores and online this fall! The plaid is a print on the <a href="http://www.crocs.com/crocs-crocband-plaid-winter-boot/11612,default,pd.html?cid=05S&q=winter%20boot">Crocband Winter Boot</a>, the Hawaain print is <a href="http://www.crocs.com/crocs-hover-boat-hawaii/12034,default,pd.html?cid=462&q=hawaii" target="_blank">Men's Hover Boat Hawaii</a> and the leopard print is on the <a href="http://www.crocs.com/crocs-kosmoboot-leopard-womens/11761,default,pd.html?cid=00R&cgid=women">Kosmoboot</a>. I have to admit, that some of my favorite designs have not made it in our line, but these were some of the first designs I created for the company and as a print designer too, I should add. I should also add that I am really grateful for getting this job. Before working for Crocs, I only had graphic design experience and was not familiar with creating prints. As a result, designing prints was a learning process, but one I was happy to embrace. I know these are nothing fancy, but it just so exciting to see your designs on product that actually exists in the marketplace I had to post it! <br />

(Oh and I just want to add, that the photography of this product is not my own- it was taken directly from the Crocs website.)Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-32525416629290717642011-12-27T23:10:00.000-08:002011-12-27T23:10:51.732-08:00Absence Makes the Heart Grow FonderSo wow- it has been a while- I mean a long while. I am sure no-one is even following me, but I just wanted to blog because it is nearing the end of a year- and boy has it been a whirl-wind of a year. I am still working at Crocs and while it is crazy- I work A LOT; I really do love my job. It has also allowed me to find some great inspiration and I think a renewed passion for design which I had lost while in school.<br />
<br />
A few things that I am happy I started to get into this year and hope to build upon next year:<br />
<br />
1. Pinterst- yes it's addicting- but also fulfilling in a way. VERY inspirational.<br />
<br />
2. Cooking- I just got a Croc-Pot and a spice rack for Christmas and I love finding new recipes. I am not quite at the stage where I am making up my own, but I hope I will get there.<br />
<br />
3. Trending- This is more because my job allows me to do so, but I do notice that I really do enjoy seeing what is fashiony and such and not just when I am able to travel. Trending sites that my work subscribes to really help with this as well as Pinterest (noted above) and an app called pulse which links to several design sites such as my modern met and design milk. I love learning about all of the new products and designs that are out there. It feels like the internet makes design limitless. For next year- I really want to discover more blogs and I am eager to learn what else exists in the design world. <br />
<br />
4. Just Artsy Stuff in General- I joined a collage class this year and I also started hand-making ornaments and Christmas presents, so I really look forward to a new year with more diy projects. <br />
<br />
Well that's it for now- I will create more posts on what I have been working on with some instructions. :)Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-72565502151748688252010-07-29T16:43:00.000-07:002010-07-29T16:54:45.697-07:00Fun Fabric Designs!<div style="text-align: left;">Since my career has taken a different turn, I figured I should create an entry compatible with it. My new job is creating graphics/prints for Crocs. I am currently working on a paisley design and I was inspired by prints by Josephine Kimberling, a graphic and surface pattern designer. To find out more about her work, go to this <a href="http://www.trueup.net/?tag=spring-2009">link</a>. Here are some examples that I really like. I hope to be as good as her some day!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 329px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0gGl-nsFXe8-f0HoE4OEMK_q2kKSAghvQRmaW-XJplcOcvL4XzaiY68aLfvwBIEZ_A1KVkY9jWXfJNI5d4w7Rj4ZhlbdjF_fMzUlmLDORegFoRr89l5jj3OSCH1T-Vxbjj5Z2TF95K14/s400/Screen+shot+2010-07-29+at+5.53.32+PM.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5499480722016617458" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 283px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs2p1mFwYiYcPVzF0CUYdfFOcw9UEzEpAf2iJzmRrALxBNGYBri79iC2S-oEjRKdJYnJyAci97MrERW3eZ18KllPCY1VGRrMZBaYeQR41Bi7bofOdTAyD_lEY7h_SRv3KoFdwD281D9MQ/s400/Screen+shot+2010-07-29+at+5.50.15+PM.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5499480251480883154" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNGIhbcOuYTszOlvC0krijW0wOWvMxIwY8bPLOPuMMEaNk2HH5siG_0QW6gZgf-LFN0s2m4yFUH_QY00isQOovQwn4_1FMyhu15Xusq2mSsaY-bJDQ5zww-Jea4kARYPVcipqk4T6_Jq4/s400/Screen+shot+2010-07-29+at+5.49.59+PM.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5499480243867208898" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 285px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKUXy5PUmABTcUkVTM-fRy43LOMtwNd3Ft4F7L7imQNAVOPNPtOLKWb4UfnCB0cFTV30AFq0ABBEdginKbCQQLXpUG38K1upBDRD8qewVrd5weWRpBZIs6oB759GFyGysdiesqFIQ2dJ4/s400/Screen+shot+2010-07-29+at+5.49.36+PM.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5499480066750107426" /><div><br /></div></div>Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-75471947270910894572010-06-29T22:03:00.000-07:002010-06-29T22:56:35.357-07:00Music and Graphic Design<div style="text-align: left;">So I found some design yesterday that I thought was beautiful. It was the album cover for Thievery Corporation's "Versions" designed by Neal Ashby and Matthew Curry. It received a 2007 Grammy Nomination for Best Recording packaging. I may be a little late on the draw for this cd cover, but I thought it was so incredible, I couldn't pass it up. I have always held a great appreciation for the connection of music and graphic design (or just design or art in general), so I thought this was a good example. I also love how the inspiration for the cover was the Beatles "Revolver" album which is a cover I have always liked. It is hard to see all the intricacies in the details at this size, but if you want to see more you can go to the <a href="http://www.ashbydesign.com/artofversions/">website</a>. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 314px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwGJ-jR8gOLW6yiH4_0xvvxT4qvH-3rAtfedZz9YisTOp-DO0xOsaVlINyFFEiuoYsQxCL41JM5BYxipGeN_NnFRRvB5Bu4le6NnYARfLH2dn0o5F15aDLVjvzAmJP2BLLyFcXUvDR9zU/s400/gallery4.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488433345256781234" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsSDv3RaPMdnbcbotXKSsO041UTBdgTzQK7PEWfgzH2RdL5UaNYCpCun5dA3l0bGn4ZnQyYez6ZNHoN0tU52yCKdS3EMXo8ZVOG_R6_jSxCgl8Pw2fe6mJ7it_lJXED0bHT4ooknrcDt8/s400/HOT1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488433481626122386" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 316px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA-v0ZMndBbelkOSCC3ph-HxsGqCzWy1nakUCKi8zc0nDxUTR-cyShjuGvwUh5HZjc75WXOJcsLEZMWuhsWTKZ5Kso3iEengKPIdqIddPh0rXMhr0QXh0BkDltpuazCwKImuycee3ZYJs/s400/matt.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488433174534213618" /><img style="text-align: left;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 168px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDpynJTe5yHip6t0AdaDRsw1GtyZMSY9jf8iS4QZhuhwWEZe5vXzxLT4cR0KN_vb2DXhOgx2hXYeoColzxZW2XKXYtTbw4NmsRDBcW0aZjzmH3ENlDJeGm9hEzrjbZ6H71zLgbKddCq2s/s400/header2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488433066921731954" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 399px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx81sEJh5Hs71KIy8eDo9nerDGS6EQbK0fLvtAbp-fTgxieGMRu7G6Wkt51voeDKtxxPL8JzjE9fbOcQsMXfCTOug9TwPLDmQuagrfI03y9rShwCxqj4JF2ws4zXYWn0IVJiey91UqWLQ/s400/3473216537_5be4cd51ed.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488433689873209346" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.apple.com/ie/pro/profiles/ashbyandcurry/index.html">Learn more about the artists and their inspiration</a> (It's also an ad for mac, but I still think it's informative)</div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDpynJTe5yHip6t0AdaDRsw1GtyZMSY9jf8iS4QZhuhwWEZe5vXzxLT4cR0KN_vb2DXhOgx2hXYeoColzxZW2XKXYtTbw4NmsRDBcW0aZjzmH3ENlDJeGm9hEzrjbZ6H71zLgbKddCq2s/s1600/header2.jpg"></a><div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div>Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-3318746038731585032010-06-21T18:40:00.000-07:002010-06-21T18:50:39.686-07:00The Internet is Music to My EarsSo I know its been a while----but, I have some good news- I landed a job! It is with Crocs and I was hired to design prints for their shoes. I'm pretty excited about, but currently it is only a temporary position so I'll just have to wait and see what happens. <div><br /></div><div>But anyway- back to the good stuff.... I found a random site today- Did you ever wonder what your website sounds like??? That's right, I said (typed) <b>sounds</b>. Well- you have to wait no more. There is a website called <a href="http://www.codeorgan.com/">Code Organ</a> and you type in any url and it tells you what the website sounds like when the coding is translated to music. Go ahead- give it a whirl! I couldn't listen to it forever, but it's definitely fun! Hopefully I will write again soon with some more randomness! </div>Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-34891960223707762362010-05-26T21:52:00.001-07:002010-05-26T21:58:28.073-07:00WebsiteSo I know I haven't written in a little while, (besides what I just posted previously ;) but I do have a website up!!!!! I totally revamped the design. After thinking I had changed it and I was made in the shade, my sister and her love for the Wonderful World of Disney showed me the light. On two Disney shows, there were actors wearing t-shirts very similar to mine, but a lot cooler looking. So, here is my edited design. Conceptually, it is different than before. I wanted the shirt to convey motion and be more about form. The negative spaces form the turbines and they are subtle, maybe too subtle in fact. I would love to get some more feedback on this design because my concern is that you would not be able to tell they are turbines, even if you were close up. Maybe it's ok, maybe it's not; I would love to hear opinions.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 309px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwNdZgzs4aFKeKnWrUk9whNRytClhcn65Zk_RFNb7VfgY4nMImFLdvn5cTLkuj4cZvqfcyXu15lX-syzQONna6EUYAkVHqmLzFzpifADkMpHDnTZmd9ZgoDiEEs3RoQzkSfKeEJqQg8-k/s400/wind+energy-01-01.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5465921579389327426" /><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">And here's a close-up of the individual form:</div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 331px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxcBSpcGQYOl44amT_ainX5gH7rabIYK1KDg6i4VWf2ocPWCWY04vRx9qz7QylNeVRIm3RnmuUkfGzgPrny1m7QH5_sYME-woifFZ_Za5SPTuRyWitsYWCY93-sTU5gXru1brxvDzK0M8/s400/Picture+1.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5465921581881464338" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div><br /></div>Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-81115618359676114792010-04-27T10:56:00.000-07:002010-05-01T23:28:30.145-07:00New Cool Site: Logo Design LoveWhen I was "researching" logos I found this website called <a href="http://www.logodesignlove.com/scandinavian-logos">Logo Design Love</a>. It is not that different, but I think this one has just a pinch more pizzaz and I like the colors a lot more. For those that don't know my old logo looked like this:</div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 312px; height: 229px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhINO9_bM0UIo7wuz1y_wgt-1AxyssxkPZ6EAMcW-Cu5dZjGNp7Uk1xx8OhFlqeD-4aqSkvGdzVrP7VC1YJwgPr0oKYZMmDw7uRTdTD3tNp7ROZBs8hofpZumAMO76vvBIufR6Zl4f8SqY/s400/Picture+1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5464517590396655442" /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Side Note: I will officially have a website in about 3 weeks!!! I'm pretty excited about it, so I'll post a link when it's up.</div>Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-35714580558939975162010-04-12T02:34:00.000-07:002010-05-01T23:30:27.359-07:00Minute One<div style="text-align: left;">Taking a cue from the popular trend of creating a piece of art/photography/craft/junk for every day of the year, I have decided to take part using my own spin on things. Rather than create a piece of artwork for each day of the year- I vow to create a new piece of art every minute of every day. YES- it may seem to be an impossible feat but I will accomplish it, by God. And so it begins with minute one:</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEFryG54YDvR_fnpPdc_lIIn86IyzEM7QW2gD18vA1lNg2CJ5cyHECQWJiWWsvdwziy8OoUAolvBgU-OCR279HGgSRBQPhFh5BsScQ3XFj8Zkphv_v45lHk8VpG8yX7zPv-eu80KsP82Q/s400/duct+tape.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459193388039398274" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px; " /></span></div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div>This piece was created using duct tape, paper clips, imagination, and love. Well I think I'll change my mind and just do a new image every millennium. See you in a thousand years.</div></div>Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-84983655241633982202010-03-15T19:17:00.000-07:002010-03-17T00:41:00.879-07:00THREADLESS SUBMISSION<div>My most recent design I plan on submitting to Threadless. This is my first t-shirt design and I wanted to make it pretty simple and clear. I liked the idea of using wind turbines because I think they have such a cool silhouette, but I wanted to make them look like they were natural elements from far away. The design makes green technology actually appear like greenery. I would love to hear comments and recommendations because I haven't submitted it yet. I wasn't quite set on a t-shirt color so I'm open to opinions.</div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmg9COJ6YSC-C-sJ5KVz0kn-wKVuB9YR6t6nNUDRmLoLAIut_LMdB06YasSpyt0rRDiTxFpgeuOl7fCjrK_TPYEp8e1bfL7F8eUwgr8OVBjYrrEse_ZtP-M5c2EC4K34b4YdFZK34V70s/s1600-h/wind+energy-01.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 309px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmg9COJ6YSC-C-sJ5KVz0kn-wKVuB9YR6t6nNUDRmLoLAIut_LMdB06YasSpyt0rRDiTxFpgeuOl7fCjrK_TPYEp8e1bfL7F8eUwgr8OVBjYrrEse_ZtP-M5c2EC4K34b4YdFZK34V70s/s400/wind+energy-01.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449054034134875474" /></a><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div>Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-28717258489654017782010-03-11T18:54:00.000-08:002010-03-15T20:17:45.677-07:00RUBE GOLDBERG LIVES ONMy sister Tess showed me this awesome video from OK Go called "This Too Shall Pass." The video was actually accomplished in one continuous shot and timed perfectly with the music. I'm not a huge fan of the OK GO's music, but I must say that I continue to be surprised and impressed by their music videos. The Rube Goldberg machine brings me back to PeeWee Herman. Anyway, I love how it's artistic and scientific. A controlled chaos of sorts. ENJOY! <div><br /><div><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w&channel=OkGo">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w&channel=OkGo</a></div></div>Caitlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09519240611912578742noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4122784783216965018.post-80869544366322503912010-03-03T10:45:00.000-08:002010-03-15T23:09:09.107-07:00MY FIRST BLOG POSTING- EVER<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';">So this is officially my first blog and I have to say I am a bit intimated. It's scary- sharing your work and opinions with whoever cares to take part. I think I'm reverting back to my shy high school roots, but anyway, here I am. I wanted to create a blog to share with others the work I have been/will be conceiving and to hear from and talk to really cool talented people. I have been looking at some fellow </span><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';">blogspotters</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"> and must say I am very impressed, so this should be exciting!</span></div><div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';">I just realized that I haven't introduced myself...My name is Caitlin Barrett. (It sounds a lot older when it's phrased like that.) I still feel new to the graphic design world because I actually graduated with an architectural degree in 2008. Once I graduated, I decided it wasn't the right fit for me and so I have spent the last couple of years attempting to beef up my portfolio, taking classes here and there, and just flat out trying to make it. It has been rough but I really like drawing and design and I am still trying to find my niche in the community. I just ended an internship with Renee </span><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';">Fotouhi</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"> Fine Art based out of New York where I designed custom artwork for hospitality clients and now I am ready for something new.
